Manny Machado to the Yankees rumors will begin to really heat up this week, as it's been announced that he will be meeting with the "Evil Empire" this Wednesday.

Machado will also be meeting with the White Sox and Phillies this week as he continues his search for the $300 million payday he's been asking for.

Rumors coming out of Chicago and New York say that they will likely not go that high. It will be interesting to see where the Phillies land on Bryce Harper and the high-level starting pitching they still covet.

The Yankees star shortstop Didi Gregorius is expected to miss the first few months of the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery just after the season ended, so Machado has a spot at short if he wants it for a couple months in New York. However, the Yankees will also have to discuss internally and with Machado about who will be shifting positions when Didi returns, and that involves incorporating talented infielders Miguel Andujar and Gleyber Torres, who finished second and third in AL ROY voting respectfully, into the discussion.

Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner has already announced he would like to meet with Machado before any offer is made because of his comments about his lack of hustle during his postseason run with the Dodgers last year. Maybe that happens on Wednesday.
