The New York Giants plan to make a late push for the playoffs (against the most absurd odds), but they will have to do so without their star wide receiver this weekend.

Giants head coach Pat Shurmur announced on Friday that Odell Beckham Jr. has been ruled out for this Sunday against the Tennessee Titans due to a lingering quadriceps injury. Beckham had missed the team's past two practices as a result of the ailment.

This will be Beckham's second consecutive game missed, as he was not activated last weekend against the Washington Redskins (though the offense hardly missed him). Last Friday, Beckham showed up on the injury report with a bruised quad, but expected to be ready to make the trip to Landover, Md.

Beckham visited the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan on that Thursday for further evaluation. The receiver did say he felt better, but followed up by saying, "S--t ain't right."

While not having Beckham on the field certainly hurts, the Giants looked just fine against the Skins, dropping 40 points for the first time this season. Sterling Shepard, Russell Shepard, and even Bennie Fowler contributed with receiving touchdowns.

Let's not forget, of course, that the Giants still have rookie sensation Saquon Barkley at their disposal, so expect New York to utilize him as much as possible this Sunday.
