After rumors swirled about a possible Knicks package being assembled for Wizards All-Star John Wall, fans in New York began to get their hopes up. However, Ian Begley, who works closely with the Knicks and the New York Media, just dispelled all of those rumblings in saying that the Knicks front office hasn't even begun discussing Wall.
The Knicks are a logical place for Wall
Knicks haven’t had any internal discussions about a potential trade for John Wall; a report earlier said there was belief around the NBA that NYK would make a significant push for a Wall deal. Also, teams are interested in Damyean Dotson, but BK & DET haven’t reached out to NYK.— Ian Begley (@IanBegley) December 6, 2018
One thing we do know is that the Knicks are shopping 2017 first-round pick Frank Ntlikina, who has been in and out of the rotation this season. He is already one of the best perimeter defenders in the league but has provided very little on offense, and his inefficiency is getting to be too much for head coach David Fizdale.
The Knicks are discussing multiple trade scenarios for Frank Ntilikina - source says talks have made “the next step” with two teams from the Western Conference.— Ross (@LegionHoopsRoss) December 5, 2018
This season was somewhat lost for the Knicks before it started, as Kristaps is hurt and they are planning to make a run at a number of key free agents this summer.
Wall may not be at the front of their minds right now, but a few months from now? Who knows. The Knicks are looking for big changes, and Wall would provide just that.
