The news took over the college football world on Tuesday. In case you've been under a rock, Urban Meyer WILL NOT return as Ohio State's head coach next season, as he'll step down after the Rose Bowl.
While Meyer has basically come out and said he doesn't anticipate he'll coach again, could he still remain with Ohio State in some capacity?
He's been with the team since 2012. It'd be nearly impossible for someone to just clean out their office and move on after so many emotional moments.
Pete Thamel on Urban Meyer: "I do think he'll remain affiliated with Ohio State in some way."— 105.7 The Zone (@1057TheZone) December 4, 2018
Per CFB insider Pete Thamel, Meyer is expected to remain affiliated with program in some kind of fashion.
What his role may be, no one knows, maybe except for Athletic Director Gene Smith and Meyer himself. Since taking over the program in '12, Meyer has 82 wins to his name, none bigger than than the W in the 2014 National Championship Game.
"He wants to coach, but physically he can’t. He can’t do this anymore. Urban Meyer is a good man, and he’s had a tremendous impact on young people."@criscarter80 on his former WR coach & friend to step down at Ohio State pic.twitter.com/9TrIiSSHIF— FOX Sports (@FOXSports) December 4, 2018
Though Meyer's career as the head coach in Columbus is coming to an end, that doesn't mean he's going to be done representing the university with pride and honor.
