Saturday was 90s night at EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, VA and Dennis Haskins, aka Mr. Belding from TV's "Saved by the Bell", was in attendance for the festivities.

And as we reflect on the woeful start to what was once a promising season for the George Mason Patriots, perhaps nobody captures the sentiments of Mason Nation quite like "Mr. B" himself, with his famous catchphrase, "Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey! What is going on here?"

Well, you can rest easy, Patriots fans. In a campus game of the Emerald Coast Classic, Mason used a late first half run to take a double-digit lead over Southern University, and never relinquished it, holding off a Jaguars rally to escape with a 69-65 win, their first of the season.

Okay, so it's a less than impressive win over a team that isn't very good, but beggars can't be choosers, and when you're 0-3, you'll take what you can get, right?

Ouch!

The season may be young, but the Patriots have reached a critical juncture. The 0-3 start has all but eliminated any realistic hopes of an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament in March and this team needs to get better before the conference schedule opens.

At the end of the day, maybe we should all just be happy that things didn't turn out like they did the last time Belding showed his face at a basketball game.
