Out with the old, and in with the new.
Right before Safeco Field was set to make its 20-year anniversary, the Mariners had other plans and will start their process of securing another naming-rights deal.
After 20 seasons, Safeco Field’s signage comes down.

After the naming-rights deal expired at the end of the 2018 season, Seattle clearly wasn't interested in negotiating for a new contract.
The sign was something that fans had gotten used to over the years years, and seeing the insurance company's name before walking in the stadium was something that had become routine. There's nothing more sad than seeing a ball park lose a significant feature, piece by piece.
Now with their company wiped out of the picture, there will be a race to the finish to see what brand name will be up there next.
It will always be Safeco Field to me. pic.twitter.com/jcV6OHmbnw

With an above .500 record this past season, the Mariners might be beginning to build a strong foundation for a winning team.
It's just sad that Safeco has the potential of missing out on countless future successes after being with the team for the team's failures.
You will be missed.
