Amidst a bevy of coach signings and free agent speculation, we might be in for the first big trade of the MLB offseason.

The Tampa Bay Rays reportedly are close to a deal with the Seattle Mariners that would send catcher Mike Zunino and outfielder Guillermo Heredia to Tampa Bay in exchange for 25-year-old outfielder Mallex Smith.

This report comes in the wake of Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto claiming that his team is not planning on a rebuild in 2019.

The trade would all but certainly spell the end of Wilson Ramos' time in Tampa Bay, as the catcher has become one of the most sought-after targets on the market this winter.

Zunino would be a fine addition to a Rays team that is looking to compete this upcoming season. He has eclipsed the 20 home run mark in each season in which he played at least 113 games and has been lauded for his defense, most recently winning the Wilson Defensive Player of the Year award for catchers this Wednesday.
