Bryce Harper undoubtedly one of the biggest names in all of baseball. Naturally, the world has been on fire so far this offseason speculating where he might be going in free agency. Many early predictions pointed to the Philadelphia Phillies, the Chicago Cubs, or even his incumbent Washington Nationals; however, according to sources another team is likely going to be in the mix. And they might get seriously creative in order to make it happen:
Source: The Yankees have expressed interest in Bryce Harper as a first baseman. They have reached out to Nationals execs about his makeup and willingness to move positions. Yes, the New York Yankees are reportedly considering going after Harper and paying him a ton of money to play first base, something he's never done before.
If the Yankees were to sign the five-tool superstar, they would be (if they are not already) the most unanimously hated team in baseball. Only the Yankees could possibly sign Giancarlo Stanton and Bryce Harper in back to back offseasons. The fact that they actually might is infuriating.
If the Red Sox pop champagne at Yankee Stadium for the second time in three weeks, one can only imagine the Yankees response in free agency.— Jason Mastrodonato (@JMastrodonato) October 9, 2018
The Yankees have a seemingly endless amount of money meaning they can always compete. Their ability to sign free agents like no other team is frustrating beyond belief as New Yorkers never have to suffer through the pain of a long rebuild.
Yes, the Yankees had to watch the Red Sox win the world series this year, but this nothing compared to what other fanbases have to go through. Just asks Mets fans.
