Dreams of that lefty power swing meeting that short right field porch might be coming to an end a few weeks ahead of schedule.

According to reports, the New York Yankees, kings of the free agency splash, are not expected to pursue Bryce Harper at the moment, the biggest fish in this year's free agent pond.

Yankee fans had fantasized for years about a 2019 marriage with Harper, the heavy-hitting phenom and 2015 NL MVP, with the idea that his swing would be perfect for New Yankee Stadium. Sadly, it looks like that won't come to pass.

All the intrigue does seem to have been let out of the Harper sweepstakes, however, as Harper's agent Scott Boras says that a deal is already in place with some mystery team, adding that Harper will reveal the news to us on his own time.

If you're a Yankee fan with your heart set on Harper, though, you may find some comfort in semantics: maybe they won't pursue him because THEY'RE the mystery team with a deal already in place.

It may be a long shot, but hey, one can dream.
