LaVar Ball's Junior Basketball Association experiment has become a complete joke. To be fair, of course, it was pretty solidly a joke to begin with.
The idea for the JBA was a novel one: a league where younger players can make money playing basketball free from the restrictions and ridiculousness of the NCAA. The only problem was that the league was being run by one of the most deluded men on the planet-- the Big Baller himself.
From on-court fights to coaching mishaps, the JBA has seen its fair share of issues. But not paying the players? Then what's the point of the league to begin with?
So many JBA players didn't get paid that league exec individually asked players about paychecks https://t.co/RrnjiVhCs0— For The Win (@ForTheWin) October 15, 2018
Outside of being paid, there really is no motivation for these athletes to participate in the JBA's shenanigans, so this could be the beginning of the end of LaVar's dream league.
To be fair, however, the JBA has led to some amazing highlights. Just the other day, LaMelo Ball hit a defender with a knee-buckling spin move:
C'mon, admit it. That was pretty cool. But if we're talking big picture, the JBA needs to figure out how to pay its players and deliver on its promises. Otherwise, it may as well not exist.
