Yesterday, Kyrie Irving announced that he planned to stick around with the Boston Celtics and hopes to sign a long-term contract. It looks like he wants to bring some other people along with him.
Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis on the same team? We would surely like to see that.
One note from my story last night: I've been told Kyrie Irving has spoken to Anthony Davis about a potential pairing in Boston. https://t.co/OeJDrYOxY3— Jay King (@ByJayKing) October 5, 2018
Irving and AD played together on Team USA, and have reportedly expressed interest in playing together again in the future. While a massive trade package would have to be in place to secure the Brow, he's one of the few players in the league that's worth such a cost.
If Boston could acquire AD without giving up part of their core of Irving, Hayward, Tatum or Brown, they would easily be the next big superteam of the NBA, although that's going to be very hard to do.
So Kyrie Irving is staying with the Celtics because Anthony Davis is coming.— James Stewart (@IAmJamesStewart) October 5, 2018
Rumors were flying around about Kyrie leaving the Celtics for the Knicks, but you can bet that if AD has a chance of coming next offseason, Irving would be more than willing to stay.
AD might give Boston the edge they need to win an NBA Championship over the dynasty that is the Golden State Warriors.
