It's not the best of days for being a fan of the Miami Marlins. Even so, MLB teams are still supposed to command a certain modicum of respect in their markets.

Well, any respect that the Fish ever had has officially vanished like some sad, demoralizing magic trick.

If giving up superstars in Giancarlo Stanton and Christian Yelich and ending up last place in the NL East wasn't embarrassing enough, Miami made sure to really go to rock bottom. There are some sports fans that don't have a clue as to what's happening in the world of college baseball, but there were still more people interested in attending LSU Tigers baseball games than heading down to watch JT Realmuto and the Marlins

Yes, a college team with amateur players using metal composite bats averaged more fans than a Major League Baseball franchise in 2018.

This should be a reality check for Miami that will help them realize how much of a joke they've become.

Derek Jeter needs to get his act together and produce a team that at least tries to win so that fans can actually help fill a stadium. Get with the program, cap'n!
