It's official.  Jimmy Garoppolo has been placed on injured reserve after tearing his ACL last week against the Kansas City Chiefs. It was a heartbreaking injury to watch, as the franchise quarterback tried to extend the play for a first down, and eventually was tackled out of bounds with no intentions of getting back on his feet.

The San Francisco 49ers have promoted quarterback Nick Mullens to the active roster, but it appears the team will start C.J. Beathard unless there is an outside quarterback they are willing to sign.

Garoppolo had 718 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions before going down with the injury. The team has now lost their star quarterback to go along with their starting running back, Jerick McKinnon.

The franchise quarterback signed a five-year, $137.5 million extension with the team before the season began. Now, he'll have to wait till 2019 to make an impact in SF.
