Tom Brady is a lot of things, and one of them is apparently unnecessarily modest.
Comments from the Patriots QB recently shocked everyone as he admitted Aaron Rodgers is much more talented than him. Considering how many people consider Brady the greatest of all time, hearing him say someone else is better is quite the head-scratcher.
Tom Brady once told an NFL coach, if Aaron Rodgers had Patriots' offensive scheme & institutional knowledge on opposing defenses, "He'd throw for 7,000 yards every year. He's so much more talented than me."— Ian O'Connor (@Ian_OConnor) September 10, 2018
It's definitely a tough pill to swallow, considering it isn't true.
The things Rodgers does are simply hard to process. He can throw the ball on the run, 50 yards away on a dime and make it look like nothing. Brady may be correct by saying he's more talented than he is, but that doesn't make him the GOAT.
There are multiple things Brady has in his favor: his mind and his instincts. Brady is terrific because of how he reads a defense, how he makes players better, and how he will always do the right thing to put his team in a position to win.
That actually connects with the second and more important reason. Right now, Rodgers has some work to do if he's going to catch TB12, and sadly, he won't have the time. When you base your play on your talent and athleticism alone, your career simply doesn't last as long. We're already seeing Rodgers' injuries pile up. Brady missed one season due to a freak injury, and that's it.
That means time is on Brady's side, and not Rodgers'. Brady has a chance to play for years down the road, while you already have to question how much longer Rodgers can do this.
Talent alone is a different discussion, but when it comes down to who is the GOAT, the answer is simply Brady.
