As the longest tenured Eagle before being cut during the offseason in March, Celek was nothing but grateful recounting when then head-coach Andy Reid called him on draft day to tell him Philadelphia would select him at No. 162 overall.
Celek's most impactful statement on why he has decided to retire comes in the following excerpt.

A true class act all the way, Celek will finish with 398 receptions for 4,998 yards and 31 touchdowns and will be remembered as one of the most efficient blocking tight ends the organization has ever had.
His impact on the field goes way beyond his numbers, as he has been a leader, a captain and an excellent example of a low-profile athlete who did the right things on and off the field.
