We've seen many unsung heroes grace the game of football over the years, and Brent Celek is the perfect example of an under-appreciated athlete.

In his 11 years with the Eagles, Celek totaled 4,998 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns. Although he was never considered a premier tight end in the NFL, he always provided great leadership for Philadelphia. He spent years grinding in the trenches to finally win his first Super Bowl last season.

Now, Celek will walk away from the game he loves as a winner. In a bittersweet move, the classy veteran is retiring before the 2018 season begins.

For Celek, it's hard to find a better way of retiring.

He spent countless years on underperforming teams in Philly, but finally earned his much-deserved ring. As for the Eagles, they have already had enough talent with Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert to overcome the loss of Celek on the field. However, his presence in the locker room is something that can't be replaced.

It's a sad day for the Eagles, but his legacy with the franchise will always be recognized by the hometown fans.
