Unless you are Greg Bird, there is no reason for any New York Yankees supporter to not love Luke Voit. This guy came out of nowhere this weekend, leading the Yankees to a four-game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles with three home runs in three starts.

He was simply unstoppable...

If you hadn't heard of Voit before this weekend, you were definitely not alone.

Voit himself had always dreamed of being a football player. Playing baseball professionally did not really become a thought for him until a couple of shoulder injuries destroyed any hope of reaching the NFL.

Voit was drafted by his hometown team the St. Louis Cardinals in 2013, but after underperforming at the major league level, he was eventually traded to the Yankees this year for Chasen Shreve and Giovanny Gallegos.

After this weekend, the Cardinals might be sorry that they got rid of him so soon.

Voit is the type of player that you love to have him on your team - always hustling, always smiling. His positive attitude is a perfect fit for the Yankees clubhouse.

Who knows what the future holds for Luke Voit, but if his success continues Greg Bird might be in trouble.
