On Wednesday, Toronto Blue Jays star Josh Donaldson took a positive step forward in coming back from a serious calf injury, as he posted a video of himself running the bases down in Dunedin, Florida.
The Jays third baseman has been out of action since May 28 with the aforementioned calf injury. This doesn't mean he'll return to the starting lineup next week, but he says he's "getting closer" and if all goes well, the logical next step would be rehab games.
Toronto has never given a concrete timeline on when the former AL MVP will return to the big leagues, but they expect him to return at some point before the regular season ends.
Of course, if he can come back sooner than later and prove he's healthy and semi-productive, Donaldson would be a prime trade candidate for a playoff contender before the Aug. 31 waiver-trade deadline passes.
