Adam Jones will go on bereavement list later this week. Attend funeral in SD. Has to be gone minimum 3 days. Could miss weekend Cleveland series #orioles— Roch Kubatko (@masnRoch) August 14, 2018
The bereavement list is used for a player that needs to leave the team to attend to a serious illness or death in his or his spouse's immediate family. Being placed on this list requires a player to miss a minimum three games and a maximum of seven. To replace the player for that timespan, the team makes an addition from their 40-man roster.
Jones will likely miss Baltimore's weekend series against the Cleveland Indians. For now, he is penciled in as a starter for tonight's matchup against the New York Mets at Camden Yards.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jones and his family at this difficult time.
