Sometimes, we forget that the pro athletes are also human beings. That they deal with the same personal problems we do.

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones will be placed on the MLB'S bereavement list this week to attend a funeral in San Diego over the weekend.

The bereavement list is used for a player that needs to leave the team to attend to a serious illness or death in his or his spouse's immediate family. Being placed on this list requires a player to miss a minimum three games and a maximum of seven. To replace the player for that timespan, the team makes an addition from their 40-man roster.

Jones will likely miss Baltimore's weekend series against the Cleveland Indians. For now, he is penciled in as a starter for tonight's matchup against the New York Mets at Camden Yards.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Jones and his family at this difficult time.
