The Chicago Cubs looked down and out on Sunday Night Baseball when they ran into Max Scherzer, who mowed down the entire lineup. He didn't give up a run and the Cubs had a goose egg on the board heading into the bottom of the ninth. That is, until the Nationals bullpen imploded and Cubs pinch hitter David Bote stepped into the batter's box with the bases jacked.
That was TAGGED. Dead center field. GONE! Wrigley Field erupted the second the fans heard the crack of the bat, which echoed throughout the north side of Chicago.
That's Bote's second huge ninth-inning home run this year, with the other coming in a game-tying effort against the Diamondbacks a few weeks back. He also had a walk-off walk this year. What can't this guy do!
With that blast, the Cubs won the weekend series and just sent the Nats home with one of the most demoralizing losses of the year.
As for Ryan Madson, he better sleep with one eye open and look out for Mad Max.
