It initially was a shock when the Carolina Panthers traded wideout Kelvin Benjamin to the Buffalo Bills right before 2017's trade deadline. Quarterback Cam Newton was actually hurt by the decision and questioned Panthers brass immediately after they let his former No. 1 receiver go.

According to The Athletic's Tim Graham, the feeling must not have been mutual.

I'm want to edit that second part, Kelvin?

Maybe the fit wasn't right, but "any other quarterback"? It's not like Benji lit up the stat sheets when he moved to Buffalo with Tyrod Taylor, catching just 16 passes for 217 yards and one touchdown in six games.

He'll have a chance to improve with a full season of action ahead, now that he's officially acclimated to his current team. It will not be easy with a rookie quarterback in Josh Allen, who has received knocks for his accuracy and ball placement.

You'll get your wish in 2018, Kelvin. Apparently, Josh Allen in his first start is preferable to an NFL MVP. I can't.

Time to see if you can succeed and back up the trash talk.
