Details have yet to emerge on what exactly happened, but Patriots rookie running back Sony Michel exited practice Wednesday morning with some sort of leg issue.
Michel apparently tried to ride an exercise bike for a bit, then gave up, walked over to the medical tent, and soon after left practice. Based on initial appearances, it seemed to be an issue with his left leg.
Sony Michel has left practice. Rode bike for a little, then went to blue medical tent and after a few minutes walked down back hill with trainer. Appeared to be something with his left leg.— Ryan Hannable (@RyanHannable) August 1, 2018
That is bad news for Patriots fans, as the team spent this year's first round draft pick on Michel, taking the running back from Georgia with the 31st pick.
Michel split time for the Bulldogs with Nick Chubb throughout his career. Despite Chubb remaining the starter all four years, Michel was at least equally productive, and was drafted before his Georgia teammate; Chubb was taken four picks later by Cleveland.
My current rookie RB ranks (with Sony):— Brad Evans (@YahooNoise) July 30, 2018
1) Saquon Barkley
2) Royce Freeman
3) Derrius Guice
4) Rashaad Penny
5) Kerryon Johnson
6) Sony Michel
7) Ronald Jones
8) Nick Chubb
9) Jordan Wilkins
10) Boston Scott
Honorable Mention: Nyheim Hines
This could be an unfortunate start to Michel's career, however, if he is already missing practice just a few days into training camp.

Hopefully the issue is nothing serious and he'll be back on the field soon.
Stay tuned for further updates.
