Discussions surrounding Kawhi Leonard's upcoming free agency in 2019 seemingly never end, but a new development in this basketball saga has been released on Sunday.

Per sources, people who are close to Leonard think there is a good chance he will re-sign with Toronto after his current contract ends.

This is a surprising piece of news, considering that reports recently surfaced that Leonard has been trying to convince other NBA superstars to sign with him in either Brooklyn or Los Angeles.

Leonard only played in nine games for the San Antonio Spurs in 2017-18 due to injury. San Antonio's medical staff declared that Leonard could have returned around the NBA All-Star break in February or in early March, but Kawhi did not feel up to it and wound up sitting out the entire season.

Due to the tension between Leonard and the Spurs front office, he was traded to "The 6" with Danny Green for DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl, and a 2019 first round pick in one of the biggest blockbuster trades in NBA history.

Aside from his behavior off the court, Leonard is widely regarded as a top-five player in the association when healthy. The superstar forward was the 2014 NBA Finals MVP, is a two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, and two-time member of the All-NBA First Team.
