Just a half inning after blowing a two-run lead to the National League thanks to a home run by Scooter Gennett, the American League came right back. With Ross Stripling on the mound, Houston Astro Alex Bregman gave the AL the lead back with a solo shot.
That home run itself would've been enough to deflate a rally, but Bregman's teammate George Springer put the icing on the cake with a solo shot of his own, going back-to-back with his outspoken friend.
With the victory, the American League has now won six straight games in this series. It's a painful reminder for the National League, which came all the way back. Edwin Diaz, despite blowing the save, notched the win, while JA Happ got the save by shutting the door in the bottom of the tenth.
All-Star weekend will be one to remember in Washington DC, with the Astros playing a prominent role in the win. With AJ Hinch at the helm, it was a perfect way to cap an outstanding competition.
