Isaiah Thomas has had a crazy two years.
While he may have said it in jest, Thomas' comments on returning to the Celtics are completely outlandish.
First, Boston simply has no need for their former two-time All-Star point guard. With Kyrie Irving looking toward playing a full season in 2018-19 and back-up PG Terry Rozier emerging as a star late in the season, Thomas would be nothing more than a rotational player.
But more importantly, it is hard to trust Isaiah Thomas' injury status. After missing the end of the Celtics' playoff run in 2017 with a devastating hip injury, the 5-9 phenom played in just 32 games this past season and was inactive for the Lakers' final 10 games of the season.
Should Thomas get another chance to be a star in the NBA? Absolutely, his work in Boston was too incredible to forget after just one lost season. But a reunion with the Celtics is completely out of the question.
