Clearly LeBron James is bringing more than just playoff basketball back to Los Angeles.
Jesus, these are gorgeous.
Now that King James is ready to shine in the Staples Center, it appears the Lakers will look even better than they'll play. After Fanatics completely jumped the gun and released an early look at Los Angeles' new retro jerseys in the background of a few tchotchkes, graphic designer Conrad Burry went out of his way to dissect the latest changes to the uniforms for the historic franchise and turn them into full jersey mockups.
JUST IN: Thanks to the keen eye of @l4d44 (and someone jumping the gun at Fanatics), we've got a larger look at the previous LeBron Lakers images + our first look at the new Lakers gold uni. Looks like a differently-colored collar trim and a thin side stripe on the shorts. pic.twitter.com/mQCvbQpAhT— Conrad Burry (@conradburry) July 11, 2018
From featuring beautiful gold jerseys to adding thin stripes on the sides, the Lakers have absolutely perfected their appearance.
While they're similar to the Showtime Lakers, the updated editions might look even nicer. It's safe to say that we can all picture James flying down the court in one of these sleek uniforms.
UPDATE: After seeing the larger images of the gold and white unis on the LeBron items on Fanatics, here's some updated renderings: fixing the # shadow, adding the shorts stripe and fixing the coloration of the collar / armhole / leg hem striping. pic.twitter.com/qSvQkb2pM3— Conrad Burry (@conradburry) July 11, 2018
If you're a fan of surprises, then Fanatics may have ruined the eventual reveal for you. However, it's hard to get angry after seeing the downright perfection of these upcoming beauties. Just when we all though the offseason couldn't get any better for the Lakers, the 16-time champs pull off another stunner.
