The Cleveland Indians absolutely destroyed the Cincinnati Reds Wednesday night to the tune of a 19-4 final score. The Indians were up 17-0 after four innings, so this quickly became non-competitive, which ultimately means a position player was inevitably going to toe the mound. Reds third baseman Alex Blandino had the honors and he actually did pretty well. He threw one shutout inning in the eighth and recorded two strikeouts, but the story is his impressive knuckleball. Check this out:

If it doesn't work out for Blandino, a former first-round pick back in 2014, with the bat, he has the tools to be the next R.A. Dickey. He's hitting only .224 with one home run and a .592 OPS over 125 at-bats, so maybe a change to the mound could be in order.

On top of his filthy knuckleball, Blandino can amp up the velocity a bit. He was throwing 90 mph last night with a little movement.

The Indians talk about the need of another bullpen option, so why not Blandino? It gives you a different look out of the pen, and you can use him in the field when he's not pitching. That would certainly qualify him as a super utility player, right?
