There hasn't been a lot for Mets fans to cheer about. The team is in the basement of the NL East and Jacob deGrom appears to be on the trade block. At least for one night, Brandon Nimmo brought them some joy.

The Mets and Phillies were deadlocked at 0 heading into the 10th inning. The Phillies are a team on the rise, young with a great future. Mets fans would like nothing more than to put a dent in their rival's playoff odds. Enter Nimmo.

Nimmo took Phillies reliever Mark Leiter Jr.'s offering for a ride and deposited it into the cheap seats in right field. The Citi Field crowd rejoiced at being some of the few Mets fans that got to witness a win this season.

Nimmo would not let his All-Star snub hold him back. Instead of playing in the ASG next week, Nimmo decided to play hero tonight. He is one of the few bright spots Mets fans can hang their hats on and this home run shows us why.

When looking back on this season, Mets fans will understandably not like what they see. Hopefully this walk-off will provide them some sort of silver lining.
