The man showed nothing but class here. Following an ugly performance and outburst by closer Ken Giles, Houston Astros manager AJ Hinch refused to throw the pitcher under the bus. Giles was given the ball in the bottom of the ninth inning up 4-0 on Tuesday night, but gave up two hits and didn't record an out.

His reaction to Hinch taking him off the mound wasn't exactly G-rated.

Despite the attitude, Hinch remained calm in his interviews and kept the talk to baseball.

He admitted that Giles is an emotional pitcher, and sometimes those emotions can get the best of him.

The Astros made the decision to option Giles to Triple-A following last night's performance.

After a stellar regular season a year ago when the Astros won the World Series, Giles is having his worst year to date, posting an ERA of 4.99.

The Astros still managed to defeat the Oakland Athletics last night by a score of 6-5 in 11 innings.

Houston will send Lance McCullers Jr. to the hill tonight as they face the A's.
