With Machado's contract up after this season, Baltimore will have to work quickly to get a trade done if they want anything in return for the star infielder.
#Dodgers, #Brewers most serious for #Orioles’ Machado, sources tell The Athletic. #Indians also in mix, though taking on rest of Machado’s $16M might be obstacle. Question remains: Will O’s ownership view offers practically or slow down process by asking for other players?— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) July 8, 2018
Machado, of course, would be a huge addition to either of those teams because of their positions in the standings.
L.A. sits just a couple of games out of first place in the NL West, while Milwaukee holds a slim lead in the NL Central over the Cubs.
In exchange for Manny Machado, the Dodgers offered up their No. 1 (Alex Verdugo) and No. 8 (Yadier Alvarez) prospects - as per Jim Bowden.— Dan Clark (@DanClarkSports) July 8, 2018
Foolish of the Orioles to decline this. The stubbornness is all too familiar, sadly. Was a fair offer for what’s only a three month rental.
Perhaps the team most in need of Machado is the Dodgers. The only problem seems to be Baltimore's hesitance to pull the trigger on a deal. No team will know if Machado will stay with them after this season, but are still offering good deals, such as the Dodgers dangling two of their top 10 prospects. There may not be a better offer coming to the Orioles for a player who is essentially a rental.
While nobody knows where yet, a Machado trade will be coming soon. The Orioles have been stubborn thus far, but they will eventually break.
