The Padres are just one of those teams that can't catch a break, especially this season.

They've hit yet another obstacle, and will potentially lose outfielder Franchy Cordero for the rest of the season.

He has been out since late-May with a bone spur in his right elbow. Cordero will likely have season-ending surgery to remove it.

Cordero had his fair share of struggles this season, but he made strides after a tough 2017 campaign in limited time. Cordero already had more home runs, RBI, stolen bases and extra-base hits this season than last. He was also on pace for a higher average and OPS than he tallied last season.

The 23-year-old was starting to look like a solid young player the Padres could build their future around. Obviously, the injury is a major setback in his development.

Either way, things just keep getting miserable for the Padres.
