The Padres are just one of those teams that can't catch a break, especially this season.
They've hit yet another obstacle, and will potentially lose outfielder Franchy Cordero for the rest of the season.

He has been out since late-May with a bone spur
Franchy Cordero is leaning toward surgery to remove the bone spur in his elbow, Andy Green said. His next game action likely would come in winter ball.

Cordero had his fair share of struggles this season, but he made strides after a tough 2017 campaign in limited time. Cordero already had more home runs, RBI, stolen bases and extra-base hits this season than last. He was also on pace for a higher average and OPS than he tallied last season.
The 23-year-old was starting to look like a solid young player the Padres could build their future around. Obviously, the injury is a major setback in his development.
Either way, things just keep getting miserable
