Everything seems to be going wrong for the Toronto Blue Jays this year.
The team hit yet another obstacle, having to place stud reliever Ryan Tepera
Tepera has been one of the few bright spots for the Blue Jays so far this season. In 38 games, he's 5-3 with a 2.97 ERA. He has arguably been the best reliever out of the Toronto bullpen, especially after the suspension of Roberto Osuna.
Elbow inflammation is never an injury to lightly consider. It's hard not to immediately jump to the worst possible conclusion. Obviously, Toronto isn't worried about Tommy John or anything yet, but inflammation will likely keep him out for a decent while.
Ryan Tepera is going to the DL with "tenderness" in the area of his "elbow-ish", Gibbons says.— Keegan Matheson (@KeeganMatheson) June 30, 2018
The official wording is "right elbow inflammation". #BlueJays
As for Jake Petricka, he's been in the minor leagues since the end of May. The right-hander struggled in just nine games with the Blue Jays, pitching just 8.1 innings and accumulating a 5.40 ERA.
Tepera's injury is definitely a cause for concern, so stay tuned for updates.
