After weeks of constant rumors and speculation, the first overall pick of the NBA Draft is now in!
Several players have heard their names in the conversation for the top selection, but only one shining prospect received the call and had their name etched in league history. With the No. 1 pick in the draft, the Phoenix Suns have selected Arizona center Deandre Ayton.

It's been a rough few years for the Suns, but a young core of Devin Booker, Josh Jackson, and Ayton should eventually bring playoff basketball back to the desert. Now that they have the post presence to match their three-point shooting, Phoenix could quickly turn around their recent struggles.
The freshman phenom dominated the NCAA ranks in his only year, averaging 20.1 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. He's drawn comparisons to many basketball legends, which should have fans absolutely pumped for his extremely promising career.
While the Suns must be pleased with their selection, management must switch their focus over to the rest of the draft, as they also own the No. 16 pick.
Following a disappointing season that resulted in just 21 wins, expect Ayton to rejuvenate this franchise, which hasn't made the postseason since 2010.
