With the internet, nothing anyone does will ever stay private.
This includes former basketball superstar Kevin McHale attending a Donald Trump ally Wednesday in Minnesota. Yeah, not so private.
I’d love to get definitive confirmation. But if Kevin McHale actually showed up to Trump’s rally in Duluth today with everything that is happening now and what Trump’s done and stands for, yeah he’s cancelled. pic.twitter.com/A99QSV56s4— Henry Lake (@lakeshow73) June 21, 2018
McHale has found himself in the eye of a hurricane of backlash from NBA fans, liberals and just about every Twitter troll you could imagine because of this.
It's impossible to keep politics separate from your work, especially when they're such a big part of who you are. McHale works as a commentator for TNT, and many are calling for him to be fired.
Kevin McHale is extremely stupid for attending a public Trump event. That, as much as his politics, is why he should never work in the NBA again— Nathaniel Friedman (@freedarko) June 21, 2018
It's safe to say this isn't going to just "blow over."
McHale has not responded or confirmed if it was actually him at the rally, but he doesn't need to.
In a series of since-deleted tweets, McHale's wife, Lynn, showed her support for Trump and voiced her opinion on the immigration crisis happening in the U.S.
Kevin McHale's wife's tweets are ... ugh ... pic.twitter.com/aSwVhjCOP0— Chris Walder (@WalderSports) June 21, 2018
Yup, folks out there are not happy.
Hey @NBATV and @NBAonTNT, you might want to check into Kevin McHale's whereabouts. If this is him supporting the white supremacist currently occupying the White House, I won't be watching any broadcasts he is involved in. Based on his wife's deleted tweets, sure seems like him. https://t.co/BoFdxnRfz4— Eric Serna (@BigSpoonyBard) June 21, 2018
Considering all the hate he's getting on the internet at the moment, it doesn't look like we're going to be hearing from McHale for a while.
