In ESPN's latest NBA Mock Draft, there were some surprise selections in the top 10. The very top of the draft isn't too shocking at this point, but the pick at No. 8 overall for the Cleveland Cavaliers has drawn more than its fair share of attention.

According to draft expert Jordan Zirm, the Cavaliers are "enamored" with Kentucky Wildcats guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Instead of fellow freshman guards Trae Young and Collin Sexton being used with the No. 8 overall pick, as had been bandied about in recent weeks, Gilgeous-Alexander is being projected to be the first college point guard taken in the draft.

This is a bit shocking given all the hype around Sexton and especially Young, but Gilgeous-Alexander is a very talented option that could be a key piece moving forward for Cleveland, whether or not LeBron James departs in free agency. He's big for his position at 6-6, and he has ball-handling skills and finishing ability that stand out among the crowd.

Mock draft's aren't just listing the best players, as there's usually insight from insiders who have gathered some compelling information about how teams are intending to behave. We'll have to wait until Thursday night to see how it all pans out, but there's no reason to believe that we aren't in store for some surprises.
