Everything in the world of NBA Draft sponsorships makes a lot more sense as of Monday afternoon.


After a world tour and album release with his international icon of a wife, Jay-Z is making even bigger moves. Apparently, a brief stint as a minority owner for the Nets was not enough to satisfy Hov's appetite for basketball. 


Amid a rash of top pick signings, Puma announced that Jay-Z is joining the company as their new president of basketball operations. 

​​In this role, Jay-Z will be in charge of determining which players join their basketball division in addition to influencing the art design, overall concept and direction of the brand. 


This is just the latest massive news out of Puma in the last few days as it pertains to their basketball operations. Within the last week, Puma has signed ​Marvin Bagley, DeAndre Ayton and Zhaire Smith to ​endorsement deals; all of whom are expected to be lottery picks in this Thursday's NBA Draft. 

After a long hiatus from having much of a presence in the basketball world, Puma is hoping that these additions, namely Jay-Z, can bring the brand right to the forefront of the basketball world.
