This is no joking matter: Washington Nationals star outfielder Bryce Harper has shaved his beard.

When you are struggling the way Harper has over the last month or so, sometimes you just have to switch things up and make a change with your routine, maybe get a haircut or shave the facial hair.

Over the last 30 days, Harper is slashing .194/.286/.398 with six home runs and 41 strikeouts over his last 98 at-bats. But outside of the power (19 home runs) and on-base percentage (.355), Harper is hitting only .217 on the season overall.

Of course, with the Nationals playing the Yankees tonight, is this a little foreshadowing of things to come this offseason?

Probably reading into this a little too much, but it'd be a clever way of letting the home fans he's leaving town at season's end.
