Anne Donovan, a star player and coach and a trailblazer for women's basketball, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday due to heart failure. She was 56.

Donovan is a Hall of Famer twice over, inducted in both the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and in the FIBA Hall of Fame. She won gold for the US in the Olympics as a player and then again as a head coach. She was also able to win the WNBA Finals as a head coach for the Seattle Storm.

Donovan is a huge loss for the women's basketball community. After her passing, players and coaches alike from across the basketball landscape sent best wishes and deepest condolences to her family and took time to discuss her impact on the game. Among her friends and colleagues,
