A very special moment. Spinal cord injuries are nothing short of terrifying, regardless of what sport they come in. This year, we saw Patrick McCaw take a scary tumble earlier in the year, and Ryan Shazier's spinal injury was terrifying. Ty Williams suffered a devastating injury like that back in 2015, but he was able to walk during his graduation, which is incredible.
After suffering a neck injury in a 2015 football game, Ty Williams (C’18) promised he would walk across the stage at graduation. Today, he fulfilled that promise. @Georgetown @GeorgetownHoyas #Hoyas2018 #werenotcryingyourecrying pic.twitter.com/wTlDNzsDLD— Georgetown College (@GeorgetownColl) May 19, 2018
Williams was a linebacker for Georgetown back in 2015, and he suffered a devastating neck injury. He promised he would walk across the stage at graduation, and he delivered in such an incredible way.
He's providing a powerful message for those who have suffered devastating spinal injuries over the last few years, much the way Shazier has. It's awesome and powerful all at once.
