Bearup's family grew concerned this week when he wasn't returning phone calls. BethAnn Bearup, his wife of 29 years, said she did not know the cause of his death. A truly sad occurrence for a beloved figure in the game of basketball.
“We just talked last week,” BethAnn said. “He was saying how blessed he was with good health. Everything was going great for him. He was so happy. I just don’t know. Bless his heart.”
Bearup played at Kentucky from 1980-1985 after joining the program as a highly-touted prospect and averaged 3.6 points and 2.7 rebounds throughout his collegiate career. He's since been working in Denver for Stan Kroenke, who was a longtime friend of his.
