When NCAA fans think about Oklahoma State, their first thought is "that's a football school," but the Cowboys are rising up in the college basketball ranks.
Obviously falling to Western Kentucky in the NIT isn't exactly appealing, yet the Cowboys truly had a strong 2017-18 season. Not only did they claim upset victories over West Virginia and Texas Tech, but they defeated Kansas TWICE. That's right, Oklahoma State beat the same team that made the Final Four multiple times.
All of those fantastic victories are a testament to their head coach Mike Boynton. In just his first season, Boynton led the Cowboys to a 21-15 record.
Now, the up-and-coming coach is being rewarded for his promising season, as Oklahoma State is signing Boynton to a long-term deal.

It's a six-year deal worth around $11.5 million total.
Clearly, Oklahoma State Athletics love the direction that Boynton is taking them. If this contract extension doesn't excite Cowboys fans enough, then how about their coach's awesome comments after signing this lucrative contract?

That right there is the sound of an ambitious leader. Even though Oklahoma State will always be remembered for their achievements on the football field, their basketball team is about to earn some respect.
And Mike Boynton is the perfect man for the job.
