The Packers are going for gold.
Green Bay has been a quiet team in free agency for the greater part of this past decade, only recently starting to explore the open market and make big moves to increase the talent on the roster. However, with new GM Brian Gutekunst, that's expected to change.
And in just the first couple days of free agent negotiations, it sounds like it already has. According to reports, the Packers are expected to sign five-time Pro Bowler Jimmy Graham this week.
Packers intend to sign TE Jimmy Graham to a three-year deal, sources tell ESPN.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 13, 2018
This is the third high-profile tight end that the Packers have signed over the past three seasons, but hopefully this one works out better than the rest.
Graham is a red zone touchdown machine. He racked up an incredible 10 scores for the Seahawks last season-- and that still pales in comparison to his career year with the Saints in 2013 when he racked up 16 touchdowns and an insane 1,215 yards.
The addition of Graham gives Aaron Rodgers something that he desperately needs: someone to throw the ball to in the back of the end zone.
It's game on in Green Bay.
