6 NBA Trades We'd Like to See on Draft Night

Draft night in the NBA is must-see TV for the league-altering trades just as much as it is for the selection of the players. Every year, one or two humongous trades seemingly change the entire dynamic of the league. Two years ago, it was D'Angelo Russell to the Nets and Kyle Kuzma to the Lakers. Last year, it was Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves. These six trades would help turn the league upside down.

6. Memphis Finally Trades Mike Conley

This one is expected, as Memphis is all but assured to take Murray State point guard Ja Morant with the No. 2 pick. The Utah Jazz have long been the front runner for a Conley trade, but Eastern Conference teams like the Pacers and even the Celtics could be a spot for the Grizzlies legend to land on his feet with a team built for the playoffs.

5. Charlotte Acquires Hassan Whiteside to Convince Kemba Walker to Stay

Whiteside has been disgruntled for some time in Miami, and a trade seems more and more likely by the day. An elite rebounder and defender, the gap between Whiteside and current Hornets starting center Cody Zeller is the Grand Canyon. If Charlotte wants to keep Kemba Walker, maybe adding Whiteside, a Gastonia, N.C. native, would be a prudent move.

4. Minnesota Sheds Andrew Wiggins' Contract

No one is doubting Andrew Wiggins' talent, nor his ability to score 20 a game in his sleep. People are doubting, however, if his poor work ethic will prevent him from ever becoming a superstar despite the fact he's making superstar money. If head coach Ryan Saunders wants to totally start fresh with Karl-Anthony Towns, finding a taker on Wiggins' contract could bring back a slew of picks.

3. New Orleans Sends Pick No. 4 to DC for Bradley Beal

Watch that No. 4 pick New Orleans acquired in the Anthony Davis trade, as there is a strong possibility that selection is moved. Saddled with John Wall's supermax, but not able to reap the benefits of it until the 2020-21 season, Washington is at the beginning of a LONG rebuild. Flipping Beal for a pick like that could at least help facilitate that rebuild.

2. New Orleans Trades Up to Reunite RJ and Zion

UCF v Duke

The Top 3 has been all but assured in this draft, with Zion Williamson at No. 1, Morant at No. 2, and the Knicks taking RJ Barrett at No. 3. That is, unless the Pelicans can use one or more of their hoard of draft picks to move up to either No. 2 or No. 3 to pair Zion with his college running mate. It worked at Duke, why couldn't it work in New Orleans?

1. Houston Ships Chris Paul Out of Town

Houston Rockets v Los Angeles Clippers

With reports that Paul is unhappy with James Harden and Mike D'Antoni in Houston, Daryl Morey and the Rockets might just flip him if they can find someone to take on his $121 million contract with three years left on it. Paul can still play, but he's not a $40 million a year guy, and that salary is crippling the Rockets this year and beyond.
