Just when it was appearing that three-time All Star Carlos Gonzalez was going to enter the 2018 season without a job, he receives a call from a familiar team.
Gonzalez is close to returning to Colorado, reports MLB insider Jon Heyman. The Rockies will ink their longtime outfielder to a one-year deal.
CarGo is close to a deal to return to the rockies. Will be one year deal.— Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) March 9, 2018
While CarGo is a favorite both in the clubhouse and with the fans, it's hard to see where he'll be playing when looking at the Rockies' current roster. The outfield looks full with Charlie Blackmon and David Dahl as locks, with Ian Desmond, Gerardo Parra, and others able to fill in the third outfield spot.
First base also looks occupied, with Desmond and top prospect Ryan McMahon currently battling it out in Spring Training.

Despite a rough year for CarGo, there is still a pretty good chance he can turn it around in 2018. And although it's looking as though he'll be a bench player, his veteran leadership will definitely be felt on the team.
