The Royals have spent the Winter losing big names from their once proud World Series championship roster.

Now they are in damage control mode as the start of the 2018 season looms.

Kansas City may not have been able to hold onto all their stars, but it doesn't mean they've given up hope. They are proving that with their reported offer to free agent slugger Mike Moustakas.

Once reported as long shots to bring back the star, the Royals are looking to flip the script with their offer to Moustakas.

Not only will it shock many that Moustakas would consider a return to the Royals, but it would be vital to Kansas City staying afloat this season.

It's amazing how fast discussions have moved tonight.

From no communication to an offer sheet in the matter of a day is not common, but both sides are in a hurry as Opening Day is right around the corner.

Free agency has been cold up until lately in the MLB. Most seasons you would expect a player of Moustakas' caliber to be long gone from the market by March.

The wait might finally be over for this former (and perhaps current) Royals star.
