After the flurry of offseason moves made by the Angels, you have to believe that the Halos are feeling that they could compete in the very tough American League West.

Those chances may take a hit, depending on the MRI results on the left shoulder of Gold Glove shortstop Andrelton Simmons

He initially injured his shoulder while diving to his right during Thursday's 7-3 loss to the Athletics. While Simmons thinks he's fine, according to manager Mike Scioscia, an MRI will be taken for precautionary reasons.

Anything more than just a few days rest could be devastating for Los Angeles, who reasonably have high expectations of Simmons. He had a career year in terms of offense and was unsurprisingly superb on defense.

Simmons will no doubt be a huge factor if the Halos end up making the postseason. While Andrelton says he's fine, the Angels will be holding their breath until the MRI results come in.
