Maybe Aqib Talib should have never left the New England Patriots.

The embattled cornerback has been the subject of trade/release rumors this offseason, but it appears as if he's trying to gain control of the situation.

Recent reports have surfaced that the Denver Broncos are aggressively shopping Talib, but it looks like he has one team in mind.

According to a report, Talib prefers to be released so he can choose his next team. His top choice is the Patriots. Cool, man.

Talib spent half of 2012 and all of 2013 with the Pats. He was a Pro Bowler in 2013 before signing with the Broncos in the offseason.

At age 32, Talib is still a solid cornerback and could certainly be a contributor on a contender.

The Patriots could be in the market to add a cornerback assuming Malcolm Butler signs elsewhere. This would be an interesting reunion. Talib is certainly a candidate to be released, especially because the Broncos want to clear up some cap space.

Seeing the Patriots secondary get torched in the Super Bowl, they could definitely use some more depth at cornerback, and a veteran like Talib could be their guy.
