Marcus Peters' time in Kansas City may be winding to a close.
After numerous reports yesterday broke about Peters' future (or lack thereof) with the Chiefs, Jason La Canfora added to the swirling rumor fires.
Continue to hear chatter that Marcus Peters may not be long for KC. Figure that intensifies next week at the combine— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) February 19, 2018
While there have been no definitive reports from inside the Chiefs organization explicitly stating that Peters is on the trading block, some of the moves they've made this offseason have led to serious speculation.
With the Chiefs adding David Amerson and Kendall Fuller, could they be trying to trade Marcus Peters? https://t.co/pjxSpodYA5— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) February 18, 2018
Peters is coming off a third stellar season for Kansas City, with five interceptions and nine passes defended. Peters forced three fumbles and had 42 tackles last year, more than both Fuller and Amerson had last season.
Many people are speculating about Peters' value on the trade market, and while it is high, it's hard to see the return on trading Peters being anywhere near the value he brings to the Kansas City secondary.
#Chiefs CB Marcus Peters is worth a R2 pick, and I could be convinced he's worth a R1. Peters has earned an 84.0+ overall grade in each of his past two seasons, he's 25 years old and... he's an Oakland native.— Austin Gayle (@AustinGayle_PFF) February 19, 2018
The #Raiders should AT LEAST entertain the idea of attaining Peters. https://t.co/PqsX6LO2Lc
Either way, the potential for Peters to move this offseason is massive news We'll keep you updated as more information comes out.
