The New York Yankees are certainly a popular pick to win the World Series in 2018. They have some big bats in their lineup in Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Gary Sanchez that could lead to a lot of dominant wins.

But there's a player who's slipped under the radar over the past few seasons that could be a key to their success.

His name is Greg Bird.

Sure, the Yankees have plenty of big-name players, but they will have to get some help from guys in the middle of their lineup, and Greg Bird is a player that has a chance to stand out. At one point, he was one of the Bombers' top prospects, and there was a decent amount of hype around him.

But since the emergence of Sanchez and Judge, he's slipped under the radar because of his struggles due to by injuries.

Bird toiled for most of the 2017 season, but fans did get a glimpse and what he could be. Down the stretch in September and October during their playoff run, Bird came through with some clutch hits.

Throughout Bird's minor league career, he showed he had the ability to hit some home runs as well as for average. We've yet to see that promise truly delivered in the MLB.

Despite all those stars up and down the Yankees lineup, look for Greg Bird to have a big 2018 season. He will most likely get his opportunity because of the Yankees lack of infield depth. He should also get a lot of pitches to hit, and if he can do some damage this season, the Yankees offense could be truly historic.
