After 27-years at Tropicana Field, the Tampa Bay Rays are finally getting a new home.
According to reports, owner Stu Sternberg
It will be located in Ybor City, a district area near downtown Tampa.

This is big news for the Rays' organization.
Tropicana Field is currently located in St. Petersburg, which is roughly 20-30 miles outside of the city of Tampa. The new proposed location would place the Rays in downtown Tampa, which makes tons more sense.
While the biggest challenge comes with funding, this could be a huge boost for the team. The Rays had the worst MLB attendance of any team in 2017. An average of 15,670 fans showed up for games in a stadium that seats more than 40,000.
Just about every game was noticeably empty and with that attendance, any kind of home-field advantage is non-existent.
#Rays’ Sternberg on attendance and optimism: “If you go back to 1998, there was little expectation the team would compete...but baseball is exciting...we’ve got some exciting players this yr...all the teams are starting East & we’ve got to just start winning some baseball games.”— Shadow of Stadium (@StadiumShadow) February 7, 2018
The Rays have the tools to compete in future years, and hopefully a new stadium will add to the excitement.
